Description:

Enjoy an evening in the park as you explore the galaxy by star maps and telescope. Retired National Park ranger/Astronomer - Larry Smith will guide you through the planets, moon and stars with fascinating facts.

Space is limited, please register for this event to secure your spots by calling the park during office hours (254) 694-3793 or email Ranger Rita no later than 4 pm the day of event.

Plan two hours for the program and to be in the viewing area early. This may be a bit long for small children and dogs to remain quiet.

Bring your own camp chairs if you would like or you may use the metal picnic tables spaced out in the area. Binoculars if you have them and a flash light with a red beam works best to keep the area dark and not disturb the guests already seated.

This event will be held across from the Group Rec Hall. Follow the signs for parking and solar lights to the picnic tables.

The event will be cancelled if temps are below 55 or raining. We will call everyone that has signed up when we have to cancel an event.

Park entry permits can be purchased during office hours or online to guarantee entry by reserving your day pass up to one month before the event.
